Lenovo X1 is an ultraportable notebook with the classic business IBM/Lenovo design to go up against the thinnest on the market. Lenovo X1 measures 21.5mm in profile and may not be as thin as e.g. MacBook Air, but offers a Sandy Bridge CPU and a battery that charges up 80% in only 30 minutes.

Lenovo has managed to squeeze in a lot of nice functions into its ultraportable and besides the 2.5 GHz dual-core Core i5-2520M processor the company has installed a 13.3″ LCD with Gorilla Glas to make it more durable. The panel sports 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.

Other specifications worth mentioning include 8GB RAM, 160GB SSD and SDXC memory card reader. As usual Lenovo equips Lenovo sin X1 with the classic keyboard, fingerprint reader and the red “control stick”.

Beside the Sandy Bridge trump Lenovo X1 has another component to make it stand out. The computer sports a new batteyr technology that beside three times longer lifespan also makes for superfast charges. Lenovo X1 will be capable of 5 hours battery time, but when the fuel runs out it will charge to 80% capacity in only 30 minutes.

The disadvantages with Lenovo X1 and its thin design is that the battery can’t be replaced by the user, but according to Lenovo this can be done for the customer in the next workday, but hopefully it won’t come to that considering the improved lifespan.

Lenovo is expected to use the new batteries with future Edge 220 and Edge 420 series, but the first will be X1. When and what price are still vague factors, mainly since the company has made any official statements yet.
