LG BH100 is the first stationary multiformat player on the market capable of handling both Blu-ray and HD DVD. This is truly a great step forward for that consumers that are interested in material launched by both camps, but as we reported last week everything isn’t completely right with LG’s creation. It namely lacks support for iHD, which means that that you could watch HD DVD movies but not be able to access the interactive functions and menus stored on the discs. Thus not being able to access any extra material or settings.
DVD Forum could possibly forbid LG, or at least try, to sell its player as it doesn’t fulfill the HD DVD specifications. But now it seems that the player will indeed be launched already next month. According to employees at Best Buy, LG BH100 will appear in stores on February 4 and now we’re just curious to hear what DVD Forum has to say about that.
