LG has made great progress in the mobile phone department and beside exciting hardware platforms with powerful SoCs and early 3D support it is working toward better usability. LG has shown a new wireless charging dock that with compatible phones will make it possible to charge the battery without cables.
LG WCP-700 uses an already spread inductive charging technology where you can transfer electricity between units wirelessly. LG’s charge station is connected to the power outlet and then you simply put the phone on the docking station and thus charge the battery.
For the induction technology to work the phone needs to be ready to accept the electricity. We can expect LG to add this function to all future smartphones, while it may also release replaceable battery hatches for current models that support the WCP-700 charge station.
LG WCP-700 measures 159 x 89 x 9,9 mm and show with audio, light and vibration effects when the charge starts. Price and availability unknown.
