LG has presented a LCD-TV prototype beyond what we’re used to seeing. The heart of the TV is what LG calls the world’s thinnest LCD TV panel and it has a profile of only 2.6mm. The 42” TV that was presented had 1920×1080 pixel resolution and used LED backlighting. As impressive as the thickness is the weight, only 4kg is almost ridiculous for a panel of this size and even if a full-size TV will weigh a bit more it is still mighty impressive.
So far LG’s superthin LCD-TV is just a prototype and when the technology will actually make it to market is uncertain. We will see more of LG’s 120Hz Extreme Slim TV during CES next month.
