Lightfleet is the company that has developed a new kind of computers for extremely demanding applications. The system is based on 32 Intel dual-core processors, which isn’t exactly revolutionizing, but in turn that’s not what makes the company and its solution interesting. As the name of the company implies it’s working with light and then in the form of lasers for solving the problem of processors having to wait for the other processors to finish their work. Each processor has been equipped with a laser transmitter, mirrors and devices for receiving laser signals.
When a processor sends a signal it sends it to all of the other processors and through an introducing string of addressing information the light beam can be picked up by the correct processor.
It’s all about using lasers for speeding up the communication between processors since the people at Lightfleet has come to the conclusion that this is a big bottleneck of modern system used for advanced calculations.
