Cooling things with liquids is hardly news, but doing it from the inside is certainly taking a new approach to the whole idea of water cooling. It’s the Tyndall Institute together with University of Limerick, Ireland, which have presented the idea to implement small silicon channels inside the packaging. The key component is be a propeller which keeps the fluid moving and allows it to cool off between circulations. The chip shown to cnet has two of these, one 5mm and one 2mm impeller, and while the idea is appealing it’s a matter of someone implementing it in large scale.
