AMD will launch the new mid-range processor Llano in retail in early Q3. Most likely the third week of July, but already in Q2 AMD expects to see Llano-equipped systems available to the public through partners after sales started back in Q1 already.
It was during a conference call that AMD interim CEO, Thomas Seifert, according to X-bit Labs, explained to analysts that the roll-out of the new APU family Llano was going as planned. Llano will bring up to four cores along with a powerful integrated graphics processor, and according to AMD be something extraordinary.
“”We began shipping Llano for revenue on the first quarter, and it is very simply, the most impressive processor in history, featuring a modern graphics architecture. […] You should expect to see Llano-based systems widely available in this quarter,” said Thomas Seifert, interim chief executive officer of AMD, during the most recent conference call with financial analysts..
As we recently confirmed AMR hasn’t just started shipping processors to selected customers, but soon the circuits will be reaching the media where most motherboard manufacturers are standing well prepared.
Even though Llano has an older base architecture AMD has great hopes for the new Fusion A processors, not the least thanks to the powerful graphics circuit that supports DirectX 11 and brings up to 400 stream processors. This can be compared to the 80 stream processors found in the ultramobile Fusion E processors that are already competitive with most integrated graphics circuits today.
The first four Llano APUs are expected to launch sometime around July 20th, but it may be delayed to August if there any bumps in the road. Four of the five first APUs will be quad-cores and be followed by a dual-core model.

The motherboard chipsets for the new Socket FM1 platform are called AMD A75 and AMD A55 where the latter brings SuperSpeed USB 3.and och SATA 6.0 Gbps. Both will support the next generation Hybrid CrossFireX technology used to connect the integrated GPU with a discrete graphics card.
