Logitec is a Japanese component manufacturer that is focusing on various storage products and among these we see that optical units are well represented. We reported about Logitec’s work on a Mac-compatible Blu-ray burner already in April and now it has finally launched its Logitec LBD-A2FU2/WM, which supports both Windows XP and Mac OS X. In our previous report about Logitec’s unit we reported it was its external unit through its dual firewire and USB2.0 support that offered compatibility with both Mac OS X and Windows XP. If you choose the external Logitec LBD-A2U2 model you only get USB2.0 and Windows XP support, but other than that the specifications are identical for the two.

Logitec’s BD burners can write BD-R media at 2x speed, no matter if it’s single-layer media at 25GB or dual-layer at 50GB. The units also sports DVD and CD writing/reading for backwards compatibility. Even the design of Logitec’s burner feels Mac-inpired and those who wants to enrich their Mac with a Blu-ray burner Logitec LBD-A2FU2/WM will cost about 1160 USD.
