Apple may be heading towards one of its toughest periods in a long time on the portable MP3 player market now that Microsoft has entered and launched its Zune player. But that Apple and its iPod brand is the dominating actor is still pretty obvious and especially the accessory market is more or less Apple’s own little playhouse. Now a big manufacturer’s plans has been revealed by the FCC website as Logitech has sent in information about a pair of wireless headphones using the Bluetooth 2.0 EDR specification to transfer sound. The headphones will be delivered with tailor-made wireless adaptors which can be used with the 4th and 5th generation of iPod but also iPod Nano and Mini.

Even though the headphones are intended for the iPod series, the manual states that it will be possible to use them with other players as well. It’s going to be very interesting to see how Logitech has managed to solve the sound quality problems there are when using wireless transfers. But if it has succeeded there is a pretty large market for a pair of wireless headphones for portable media player.
