LucidLogix Virtu gains support for more platforms, including AMD

LucidLogix Virtu has been a niche product operating only on desktop LGA1155 systems with the latest Sandy Bridge architecture from Intel. Virtu will now broaden and also work on notebooks, all-in-one PCs and desktop systems from both AMD and Intel.

The Virtu technology from LucidLogix dynamically switches between the integrated graphics of a processor and a discrete graphics card. When the discrete graphics card isn’t needed it goes to sleep to save power. The vision was to turn off a discrete graphics card almost completely by cuttintg the power supply through the PCI-E port, but we’re not quite there yet.

Virtu will work on principally all systems including those from AMD and gets a better name; Virtu Universal. According to Offir Remez, founder and VP of Lucid it has received good response for Virtu and look forward to seeing the technology in notebooks, all-in-one PCs and AMD based systems.

Virtu – now called Virtu Universal as it covers more than Sandy Bridge for the desktop

Besides broadening the support of Virtu Universal it brings a function called Virtual Vsync that will offer better responce and experience than before:

  • Unlimited number of frames with over 120 FPS and up in games with Vsync.
  • Image frequency and image quality defined by the user.
  • Better visual quality without tearing.
  • Maximal responce with mouse and keyboard with an increase of 250% and higher than before.

LucidLogix Virtu Universal is a software solution that is already being licensed to companies and should appear in all kinds of products in the near future.
