Recently Steve Jobs himself dropped the bomb: Apple will abondon PPC and IBM for x86 and Intel. The transition from PPC to x86 shouldn’t be any problems either as according to Jobs: We’ve been compiling every version of OSX for both PPC and x86 the latest five years. I.e. there shouldn’t be any problems what-so-ever with recompiling current software to work with Intel’s processors. During Jobs keynote speech he demoed Mac OSX on a Mac equipped with an Intel Pentium 3.6GHz and ran some of the already recompiled software. The comments are so far very scattered and right now we can only wait and see how the transition will go.
