MGM supports Blu-ray

Blu-ray has yet again acquired another partner in the battle for the next generation optical format HD DVD. It is the movei studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer which has now announced that it will support the Blu-ray format when it will be launched in North America, Japan and Europe. Even if this was another step forward for Sony and Blu-ray and it was hardly a surprising move by MGM. The movie studio was namely purchased by an investment group consisting of among others Sony. But with movie series such as James Bond backing it up this is a real nice catch for Blu-ray and this means that the movie studios continues to support the format with the most advanced copyprotection.
