Microsoft demands integrity check

Microsoft has since September last year had an optional check to see whether your operating system has been legally purchased or not. As of today you will not be able to download any updates, except security related such, if you don’t check your operating system. This is a way for giving the paying customers more value and decrease the number of pirated operating systems, which Microsoft hope will increase the number of sales. If you fail the verifying process and live in the USA you have two options. Either send in your disc and proof of purchase and receive a new on for free. If you don’t have a disc or proof of purchase you can buy a new lincense of Home Edition for $99 or Professional for $149. How this will work for the rest of the world is uncertain.
