Microsoft will as you perhaps know launch an external HD DVD player for its Xbox 360 video game console, this is, among other things, to counter PlayStation 3 and its integrated support for the Blu-ray format. Microsoft has now for the first time displayed its external HD DVD player to the media and those who were there got to see the unit and a comparison to regular stationary HD DVD players. According to Microsoft the external HD DVD player will be one of the cheaper on the market and this is made possible thanks to the fact that a lot of the technology is already available inside the video game console. It did not want to specifiy an exact price, but the unit will be made available for the christmas shopping.
