The last time this happened it was because of Microsoft offered a free internet browser with Windows, I.e. Internet Explorer.
Microsoft is being sued for 0.5 million Euros and this time Media player is the issue. The EU (European Union) supports the decision and is pushing for the legal actions to take effect. EU wants Microsoft to offer a version of Windows without Media player, and also “make it easier” for other companies to create programs for Windows that are in direct competition with Media player. What EU really wants is that Microsoft should release the source code to those respective companies.
