Microsoft will stop making Xbox 360 HD DVD players immediately. The format which admitted defeat earlier last week, will still receive essential support from the companies that backed it, but since the format has no future, Microsoft has decided to stop making the HD DVD player addon for its video game console Xbox 360. Warranties still apply Microsoft are now trying to find ways to use technology it developed for HD DVD in other markets, e.g. interactive HDi technology and the VC-1 codec.
