EMI has as the first major record company decided to release its music free of DRM. iTunes Music Store will be the first store to sell music from EMI without protection, but it will be far from the only one. Microsoft is currently negotiating with EMI and interested in selling EMI’s DRM-free music through its Zune Marketplace. There’s no date as of today, but Microsoft has said that it has realized that the buyers want DRM-free music and are willing to pay for it. I wonder if they will be using AAC?
