An article at The New York Post has caused quite a riot the last couple of days and it is perhaps not such a surprise. They namely wrote that Microsoft is planning to acquire the auction site eBay and that the two have been discussing this for a long time. eBay is one of the truly big actors on the web and had a revenue of about $5 billion under 2005, on the other hand compared to Microsoft’s $41.3 billion it is not that big. Would Microsoft acquire eBay it would be one of the biggest acquisitions in the history of the internet though.
