The mouse of today allows us to move the pointer back and forth and click with two or more buttons. Microsoft recently showed what it calls the next generation computer mouse, dubbed Mouse 2.0. Microsoft has presented a number of concepts where the majority are based on multi-touch technology. With it you can execute multiple commands by performing different movements of the fingers. The mouse is still moved around with the wrist, but the two primary mouse buttons have been replaced by a solid acrylic cover.

Beneath the cover is a camera that keeps track of the movement of the fingers and the contact to the acrylic plastic, which is then converted into movements and commands by the computer.

With another concept they use electrodes in the mouse that recognize the movement of the fingers and then convert them into various commands. The claw grip gaming mouse is a type of mouse that most people prefer.

Microsoft has published a demonstration at YouTube showing five different Mouse 2.0 concepts, also found below.
