The last week or so there have been some really hot discussions about Microsoft’s license agreement for Windows Vista. When Microsoft first presented its Vista licensing many realized that this would be a killer blow to the enthusiast market, as they often upgrade their computers. A Vista license would namely only be allowed for a certain number of component upgrades, or a specific such, before you would have to buy a new license. To an enthusiast who often change hardware this would be a catastrophe. The criticism against Microsoft have been harsh and now it seems Microsoft has agreed and changed its mind. If you buy a copy of Windows Vista, no matter what version, you will then be able to use it with as many computers as you want, as long as you only use it on one computer at a time.
“You may uninstall the software and install it on another device for your use. You may not do so to share this license between devices.”
This is a bit of a U-turn by Microsoft and it clearly says that this is to support the enthusiast market, which has been a very important part of the development of Vista. So all of you who were worried about Vista’s strict licensing agreement can now relax.
