Microsoft earlier made a statement about Windows Vista that enraged more than a few. It namely stated that full playback of high resolution and copy-protected video formats will only be supported by the 64-bit version of Vista. This would have meant that neither Blu-ray nor HD DVD would work with Windows Vista 32-bit. The reason was suppose to be because of the 32-bit version’s handling of the drivers. The 32-bit version namely allows for non-certifierade drivers and this would’ve made it all too easy to get by all the copy protections used by the next generation video formats.

This is not true though. Microsoft has clarified the previous statement and says that it is entirelly up to the ISV (Independent Software Vendor) whether the operating system, processor, platform, etc. will be support or not.
