Xbox and Xbox 360 has been, with the exception of one quarter, a big loss for Microsoft, economically that is. The video game market works like so that the console is sold at almost no profit, or even a loss, and then the maker hopes that the profit from the games will balance it out. However, Xbox had a lot of trouble when it came to selling software due to the fact that is was as easy as taking a stroll in the park to make the Xbox play downloaded and copied games. The Xbox 360 hasn’t shown any direct profit either according to sources, but Microsoft has now stated that it isn’t willing to give up and hopes that the console will show profit in 2008. Something that has never happened before.
