A while ago we told you about how Swedish company Mionix launched two new gaming mice, Saiph 3200 and Saiph 1800. These were not just any mice, but two mice with specifications worthy of the very best gamers. Mionix has now announced that its version of a mouse’s best friend, the mouse pad, will be launched during DreamHack Winter 2008. Alioth 320 and Alioth 400 are both cloth pads with coating for minimal friction. The press release follows below;
Mionix launches Alioth 320 and Alioth 400 @ Dreamhack Winter 2008
Växjö, Sweden – October 28th, 2008 – Mionix, manufacturer of high quality gaming gear revealed today that they will launch the mousepads Alioth 400 and Alioth 320 at the upcoming event Dreamhack Winter 2008 in Jönköping. Mionix is a new manufacturer of gaming-gear and was founded in the beginning of 2007. Their goal is to develop high-quality gaming-gear with suitability for all kind of gaming.
Alioth is another name for the brightest star in the constellation ”Epsilon Ursae Majoris”. Alioth is about 81 light-years from Earth and rotates with a speed of 38 km/s. According to Mionix the mousepads got their name after the star Alioth because it is the brightest in the whole constellation.
Alioth 320 and Alioth 400 are made of cloth with a coated surface to minimize the friction between the mouse and the pad. The mousepads have been developed and tested for both optical and laser sensors. Alioth comes in two sizes, Alioth 400 is made to fit players with low sense and wide movements and Alioth 320 for players with higher sense and smaller movements. The back of the mousepad is made of a of rubber-mix to enhance a firm grip. The dimensions have been carefully chosen to fit the requirements of gamers around the world according to Mionix.
