NVIDIA has gained a lot of momentum the last couple of weeks when it comes to its HDCP-capable graphics cards. A few days ago we heard that NVIDIA will launch HDCP-capable models of its GeForce 7900 graphics card within six weeks. But ATI which have boasting about its HDMI and HDCP work, perhaps much because of the poor handling of the subject earlier, and has actually already launched the first HDCP-capable graphics cards. Sapphire started shipping its Radeon X1600 Pro HDMI about a week ago and DigiTimes now reports that several other ATI partners are about to follow.
GeCube has supposedly already launched its first HDCP-capable graphics cards through its Radeon X1300 and X1600 series. The GeCube HV series supports HDCP and the X1300 card is expected to appear in stores in the middle of July. Also Tul seems to have a HDCP card ready and is expected to launch a HDMI-equipped X1600 card with a Silicon Image HDCP circuit at the end of July. It’s taken quite a long time, but it really seems that also graphics card manufacturers have realized the importance of HDCP.
