Ok, some of you might think that this is getting tedious, but at the same time it is the most important game event in years for many. Anandtech has released more tests from Half-Life 2 than any other site, and it does have some new information to offer. Here, its writer talks about the special NV3X path that nVidia’s cards must follow to reach the vicinity of playable performance.
“There’s clearly a visual tradeoff made here, which we will get to shortly, but the tradeoff was necessary in order to improve performance.”
I guess we still have to wait for the final version of both Half-Life 2 and Detonator 50 before we’ve seen the last of this spectacle. On the other hand, there has been talk about drivers saving the FX architecture since FX 5800 Ultra was released early this spring, but so far, these drivers have been nowhere to find.
