A while back we reported about how ATI had implemented a new kind of Hybrid CrossFire in Catalyst 8.1. It was now possible to mix Radeon HD 3870 an 3850 cards. The first shorts tests pointed to a well-working solution, and now that Legitreviews has posted a longer and more thorough test, we once again see that 3870+3850 hybrid CrossFire works well. It’s slightly slower than 3870 CrossFire, but also significantly faster than just a single card. If you’re buying a second video card it might be worth the additional $40 for a 3870 instead of a 3850, no matter if you have a 3850 or 3870 to begin with.
