MSI is ready for the second wave of Lucid Hydra motherboards. After Big Bang Fuzion we will get MSI 870-GD60 sporting the new AMD 870 chipset and LucidLogix Hydra bridge chip for any combination of graphics cards for Socket AM3. AMD 870 is an entry-level chipset and MSI has kept the motherboard in the same spirit. With relatively few PCI-Express x16 slots, two, and a rather Spartan layout the motherboard will attract more budget-aware users.
MSI 870-GD60 won’t be low-end though since it has high quality components and 8+2 phase power supply with High-C capacitors and DrMOS mosfets.
MSI has planted physical buttons for making overclocking and tweaking easier. Other nice features include USB 3.0 and through the SB850 southbridge; SATA 6,0 Gbps, Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire.
At Bit-tech they have published a couple of pictures of an early version of the board and the only thing we miss is a picture of the cooling and a price. The launch is slated for July, which goes well with the expected launch of rival ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme.
