During the summer you could follow the qualifications for MSI European Overclocking Challenge 2008, one in the row of several highly qualified overclocking competitions that have started this year. The European finals ended last weekend, live in Amsterdam. After months of national qualification rounds the top overclockers from 20 different countries were flown in to compete for both nice prices and of course the honor of being one of the best overclockers in Europe.

When the competition ended it turned out that the overclockers Greece had done their homework better than anyone else. Well known profiles Hipro5 and gprhellas brought home the title after being superior in all benchmarks, 3DMark05, SuperPi and Cinebench. As we mentioned above, they had done their homework and they were extremely well prepared for the event. It came as no surprise that they managed to go all the way.

The winners were awarded a MSI GX600 laptop each and the hardware they used in the competition (MSI P45D3 Platinum, MSI N9600GT-T2D512, Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000 Platinum Edition, Silencer 750 Quad PSU). Together with the Turkish and French team that came second and third, they were invited to compete at the International finals, MSI World Wide Overclocking Challenge, held in Taiwan in November.

Our own team consisted of Elmor and Blossa (replaced Kinc in the last minute), but like many of the other teams they did not have much luck with the hardware and finished 9th in tight competition with the other teams that ended up behind the top three.
