Component maker Micro-Star International (MSI) has been focusing a lot on notebooks over the last few years, among other through its netbook series Wind. It has also launched a whole bunch of notebook models, but have been unable to claim the market shares it was hoping for. Internal documents reveal that MSI’s continued focus on the notebook market has started to pay off. Especially with the new slim approach.

MSI estimates to ship 4.5 million notebooks in 2009. Compared to “only” 3 million in 2008, an increase of 50% over last year. Not surprisingly MSI has great expectations for its thin X-Slim series of notebooks that is expected to make up 50% of the total sales this year.
