MSI is one of the component manufacturers that have really been trying to please the HTPC enthusiasts. It has now introduced an interesting initiative by launching the R4600 HDMI series of graphics cards. It relies on AMD’s Radeon HD 4670 and 4650 GPUs, but there is no less than five different models. As the name of the series reveals the cards are equipped with HDMI outputs for a simple and swift connection between the TV or monitor and the graphics card.

What separates the different models is mainly the amount of graphics memory, but MSI has also announced a 512MB version of Radeon HD 4650 that comes with passive cooling. This card will cost around $70 in stores.

None of the cards consumes more than 75W and sport high-quality capacitors and Solid State Chokes to make them extra stable and durable. But the thing that really catches our attention is still the number of video outputs and the original HDMI support.

“MSI International, announces the all new R4600 HDMI series of graphics cards. As the name implies, this card has native HDMI output, as well as digital 7.1 sound channels, plus solid state and high quality Hi-c capacitors for more stable performance. With this card your Blu-ray discs run lag-free so you can enjoy the beauty of hi-def visuals and sound for a performance you can be proud of.”

We wouldn’t be surprised if other manufacturers choose to follow in MSI’s footsteps and go for the all the more popular HDMI format, which plays a crucial part on the growing HTPC market.
