SideShow is an interesting new technology coming with Microsoft’s new operating system Windows Vista, which lets users handle information and media even when the computer is turned off. SideShow relies on an external display for this purpose and the technology works perfectly with laptops, which we’re earlier seen some examples of. This was a technology which is also suppose to work with external and removable displays, something MSI has adapted. Pictures have namely appeared of a prototype MP3 player from MSI which is docked and handling some of the computer’s functions.
“This prototype was running Portal’s Player “preface” system. As previously reported, Portal Player’s Preface system, a complete Vista Sideshow hardware and software solution can be found at http://www.portalplayer.com.”
This certainly adds value to MP3 players which also comes with SideShow functionality and we certainly hope that the integration between computers and these external units is made as convenient as possible. The potential is there and these pictures confirms that manufacturers have already starting looking at the concept.
