MSI has expanded its popular X-Slim series of notebooks with two new models, X460 and X460DX. Even if the Intel Ultrabook concept isn’t quite here yet this can almost be considered a warmup where MSI has baked in powerful Sandy Bridge processors in relation to a profile of only 2.53mm behind a 14″ LCD.
MSI X460 and X460DX is only different in the components where the former focus on raw power with a quad-core Core i7-2630QM processor at 2.0 GHz (2.9 GHz Turbo). MSI X460 also get sa bigger harddrive at 750GB and Windows 7 Professional. but at the same time it has to settle for Intel’s HD 3000 graphics.
MSI X460DX can be had with Core i5-2410M (2.3-2.9 GHz) or Core i3-2310M (2.1 GHz) processor with two cores. Als the storage space at 500GB is lower and it only comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, but it weighs up by housing NVIDIA GeForce GT540M graphics circuit next to the processor.
Otherwise the two are nearly identicla with 6GB DDR3 RAM, a glossy 14″ LCD with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, 6-cell battery to 1.3 megapixel camera, HDMI output and dual USB 3.0 ports.
The complete measurements of MSI X460 series are 33.9 x 23.9 x 2.5 centimeter and weighs 2 kilo. Despite its more powerful components MSI promises a battery time up to 8 hours and prices start around 700€.
