MSI had two new enthusiast motherboards to show at CeBIT 2010, XPower X58 Big Bang and 890FX-GD70. The two new flagships for the Intel and AMD platform. Since the boards were nailed to a wall we can only assume they weren’t ready. High resolution have appeared though, and they reveal everything but performance.
MSI XPower X58 is a card tailored for Intel’s latest Gulftown CPU and with 16 phase PWM power supply and high quality capacitors shows this is a motherboard that means serious business.
MSI has used the familiar SuperPipe cooling system and no less than six PCIe x16 slots and they get some extra juice from the added NF200 bridge. The specifications also lists USB 3.0 and SATA 6,0 Gbps
On the other side of the fence we have MSI 890FX-GD70 that is slated to appear by the end of April. The SB850 southbridge brings SATA 6.0 Gbps, while USB 3.0 is added from a discrete controller. The motherboard is geared toward overclockers with OC Genie, five PCIe x16 slots and 5 phase power supply.
