Intel Z68 is the coming chipset from Intel that allow users to use all functions of its Sandy Bridge processors, without having to choose between overclocking or graphics, and enjoy Intel Smart Response. Another card has appeared before the camera and this time in Micro-ATX format, namely MSI Z68MA-ED55.
MSI Z68MA-ED55 posed before iT.com.cn and looks to be a pretty charged up motherboard for the formfactor Micro-ATX, with two PCI-Express x16 slots.
MSI’s latest creation Z68MA-ED55 will be one of many motherboards from the company with the new Z68 chipset and offers a lot of functions together with a smaller formfactor. We see two PCI-Express x16 for Crossfire and SLI, Power/Reset buttons, OC Genie and measuring spots for getting more precise voltages, which is often appreciated by more serious overclockers.
The motherboard is classed Military Class II that according to MSi will bring lower power consumption, more stable power feed and better overclocking potential. Besides two USB 3.0 ports on the I/O bracket but also the possibility of two on the front, which means four USb 3.0 ports all in all.
What looks like an error in design is the second PCI-Express x16 slot, if you want to run Crossfire or SLI with graphics cards with dual-slot coolers you will block the Power/Reset buttons and many of the outputs connecting to the front panel.
The board should launch on May 11th, which is the official launch date for Intel Z68 and the price is uncertain.
