Mushkin has launched a new memory kit called HP2-6400 5-4-4 and the name really says it all; a DDR2 memory kit specified at 800MHz and 5-4-4-12 latencies. Even more important is the density of the modules; 2GB, which means that Mushkin HP2-6400 5-4-4 is a 4GB kit. The memory modules use Enhanced Performance Profiles (EPP) for optimal performance for inexperienced users, but at the same time better overclocking potential for the experienced ones. Each module has been equipped with Mushkin’s FrostByte heatspreader to keep the temperatures at bay. Mushkin launched a 4GB memory kit in its high-end series XP2 a few weeks ago, but these are of the more mainstream HP2 series.
There’s no secret that the 4GB memory kits are intended for Windows Vista users and we can assure your that if there is something Windows Vista likes, it’s RAM. 2GB of RAM will get you far, but with several applications and perhaps a game running 2GB won’t last for long. Hopefully we will see more 4GB memory kits up ahead; prices need to come just a bit.
