The clamshell phones has a number of pros compared to the regular design. You don’t risk pressing any buttons without knowing and the main display is protected from scratches and similar. There are some cons though and the thickness is perhaps the biggest. Since you fold the two parts over eachother a clamshell phone usually gets thicker than a regular one. Well now NEC has taken a big step in the directino of curing this con by launching a superthin phone in Hong Kong.
The cell phone has a thckness of 11.9mm thus being the thinnest clamshell phone in the world and with this comes a 1.3Mpixel camera and a 1.9″ color display. Unfortunately we don’t have any more detailed information about the phone, but we hope to hear more about this soon.
