The so called netbooks has grown exponentially since the launch. When ASUS announced the first Eee PC it focused on 7″ or 8.9″ models, but lately models have grown up to 10″ and now it looks like we will be seeing even bigger netbooks in the future. According to industry sources 10″ to 12″ displays will become standard among netbooks in 2010 as the demand for larger netbooks rises.
Today NVIDIA’s Ion chipset is often used together with Intel’s Atom processor for netbooks over 10″, this is because the processor manufacturer has limited the use of its Atom platform to 10″.
But now that the Pine Trail-M platform will arrive next year Atom will ship with an integrated GPU and memory controller. Something that will make things a lot harder for NVIDIA.
At the same time the larger netbook formats could become a threat to ultrathin notebook models that have become rather popular lately. The demand for ultrathin notebooks is largely dependent on the prices of the larger netbooks.

The 12″ format is one of the more convenient formats for those often on the move and don’t mind bringing the computer, while you’re not too limited by a smaller format.
