Netbooks have many advantages over full size notebooks, especially the convenient size and in many case the price. There are drawbacks of the netbook platform too, where among others the hardware can be limiting, but also the relatively small displays, which also use a rather low resolution at 1024×576 pixels. We know since earlier that Dell is planning 10″ displays with higher resolution and now it looks like larger displays will be the next step with netbooks.
According to information DigiTimes has stumbled upon several manufacturer are planning to launch netbooks with 11.6″ displays, among other market leaders Acer and ASUS. The new 11.6″ panels will sport 1366×768 pixel resolution, which does make them a bit more interesting than today’s netbooks.
The new and larger model will be a bit more expensive and most likely sport some different features. The big questions is where we are to draw the line between netbooks and notebooks as the two are becoming all the more similar to each other.
