New records for 3DMark 2001 and 3DMark 2003

The two very popular benchmark programs from Futuremark isn’t just extensively used as testing tools on hardware sites. If you get a high score in these programs it means very high status in the overclocking communities. During the weekend there has been a bunch of new records in both of the programs and the biggest reason for this is Intel’s 875-chipset and the new Pentium 4 processors with the FSB clockfrequenty of 800 MHz.
The combination with their extreme performance allowed the powerusers to reach new heights and in the weekend 2 new records has been made, 8000 points in 3DMark 2003 and 25000 points in 3DMark 2001. In both of the tests it’s a finnish guy on top, the king of overclocking, named Macci, who is the only one who has been able to reach over 25K points in 3DMark 2001.
At least for the moment. His configuration is something like this: Intel Pentium P4 3,06GHz @ 4,1 GHz and a really tough overclocked Radeon 9800 PRO (558/434 MHz). That’s just 2 things of this monstercomputer. The soon coming NV35 from nVIDIA is one of the products which will put this record in the shadows, but even the Catalyst 3.4 drivers from ATI will make it even tougher for nVIDIA. But for the time being this is a very big achievement and now the users are aiming for 10K in 3DMark 2003 and 30K in 3DMark 2001.
