The Japanese designer Mac Funamizu has introduced a new innovative design concept to a market in dire need of this, I’m of course talking about USB memory sticks. This new concept features a USB stick partially enclosed in glass. Behind the glass an integrated light-system of sorts shows the user what kind of files is being sent and received from the unit in real-time. Not by using filenames but by using colors, blue for documents, pink for pictures and green for movies.

The light-system also shows the user how much empty space is left on the drive, which can really be helpful in stressful situations.
This design concept is still far from mass-production, but it’s always interesting to see creative people who like to think outside the box.
