A German hardware site has published what is claimed to be the specifications of the next generation high-end card from NVIDIA. Not the GeForce 9 series, which the original news report suggests, but the one after that. According to a “reliable source,” this chip will be made with 55nm manufacturing process and contain 1.8 billion transistors (!). The core runs at 650MHz, with 384 shaders running at 2,000 MHz. The memory will be 1GB of GDDR3 running at 1,000 MHz (2 GHz effectively), and sport a 512-bit memory interface. The number of ROPs and TMUs have been increased to 32 and 96 respectively. The card is suppose to arrive in H2 2008, but until then consider this with a pinch of salt.
