Nintendo has now decided to do something about the complaints that have appeared regarding the weak wrist-straps. As you perhaps know the Wii controller uses motion sensors to control functions in the games and to make sure you don’t drop your controller and/or throw it across the room there’s a strap you can fit around your wrist. As it turns out this strap isn’t strong enough for some users as they simply use too much force and, alas, we’ve seen pictures of broken TVs hit by flying Wiimotes.
Nintendo has therefore decided to replace all straps, broken or not. It has also decided to release detailed information about how to use the controller, so that you don’t hurt anyone, including yourself. This will of course cost Nintendo quite a penny, but we’re convinced it will be for the best in the long run and this expense should most likely be quite small in reference to the success of the console we’ve seen so far. The Wii users who want a stronger strap should contact Nintendo through its website.
