Nintendo said, through its Canadian VP in an interview with Mackenzie Investement, that it’s planning to have 1 million Wii consoles available at the launch on November 19 in North America. This is a quite impressive figure if you compare it to the number of shipped Xbox 360 consoles during its launch, not to mention Sony’s narrow supply of PlayStation 3 consoles (400,000 for North America). After this statement was made Nintendo contacted Gamedaily and announced that it will in fact ship even more Wii consoles to the USA.
According to Nintendo of America there will be more than a million consoles available for the American launch and it is hoping to sell 4 million video games consoles worldwide in 2006. North America will get the biggest portion of these 4 million consoles and would Nintendo be able to ship 4 million Wii consoles in just a month it is a truly impressive achievement.
