Earlier this week NordicHardware Folding@Home climbed up among the top 400 teams. After a short slowdown the team has regained its strength and is now up to its regular pace. This means a solid 100,000 PPD and closing in on 6,500,000 points overall. The goal we set up was to break into the top 350 before the end of the year and right now it looks like the team will go up there in the days to come with several days to spare till the new year. If that’s not some kind of record it has to be pretty close to it.
It is still a bit early to name the Patron of the Month for December and we won’t be doing that today. Instead we thought we would hand out a Christmas present to some one who has done a lot to contribute without having the most powerful hardware. Therefore we decided to give him a hand. NH Patron emokid has been a very active contributor to the discussion surrounding Folding@Home in the [Swedish] forum and has created numerous threads to lure new users into folding.
As a thank you we will send him a MSI NX8800GT-ZILENT. This should give him further possibilities to contribute to the project he has shown such a great interest in. This particular model of 8800GT by MSI has a third-party cooler that will keep both temperatures and noise down, unlike the original cooler.
We will of course also name a Patron of the Month for December, but you will have to wait until the start of January for that one. Those of you who are not already contributing to Folding@Home, but want to, not just to win some nice prizes, but also to make the world a better place can turn to the forums where you will get all the help you need getting started, with both processor and graphics card.
