We have at several occasions reported about Quad SLI: Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Quad Royal and ASUS 7800GT-Dual in SLI, but none of them work in quad configurations. But now NVIDIA has taken things into their own hands and actually built a card consisting out of two 7800 GTX 512 GPUs on two PCBs. The PCBs has also been lengthened to make room for the extra circuits needed. Each “card”, consisting out of two PCBs, only need one PCI-e 16x slot, but thanks to the builtin chip both circuits work against the motherbaord in 16x. SLI is integrated between the two PCBs and through the regular SLI bridges you can extend with another identical card and get Quad SLI. Whether we will see this card in stores or not remains to see but it seems somewhat likely now at least, although not for a while.
