NVIDIA looks to follow AMD and has released a beta driver; GeForce 270.51. The company has turned several stones and not the least it has come out with a lot of performance optimizations, but also better support and performance in 3D.
GeForce 270.51 beta supports all cards of the NVIDIA GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 series, but also integrated ION GPUs. Another pleasant bit of news is automatic updates for the drivers through notifications in the systray.
The performance optimizations are specifically for GeForce GTX 580 and GeForce GTX 560 Ti. This includes over 500% boost in Dragon Age 2 in SLI, which says more about the initial SLI support than anything else.
NVIDIA has also revised the 3D Vision support quite a bit, fittingly after the launch of GeForce GTX 590 that supports the technology out of the box. Here we see support for several new 3D monitors and projectors, and twenty or so new 3D game profiles.
