AMD will soon launch its 4×4 platform, also known as Quadfather, where it combines 2 dual-core Athlon FX processors (4 physical cores) with up to 4 graphics circuits. As we’ve known for some time now it is NVIDIA which supplies the chipset for AMD’s new platform, something which could be considered a bit ironic as AMD recently acquired NVIDIA’s biggest competitor ATI. Anyhow, it seems that NVIDIA has now chosen to display AMD’s new 4×4 platform at GeForce LAN in San Jose, California. The demo system was connected to 4 monitors and ran several demanding applications at the same time to display the platform’s multitasking performance.

It offered no detailed information about the platform, which we find out more about soon though. We can also expect three new Socket F processors when AMD launches the 4×4 platform and we’re eager to see how 4×4 performance in comparison to Kentsfield.
