NVIDIA G80 delayed

0

NVIDIA G80 is the developing name for the first DX10 compatible graphics circuit by NVIDIA and we were anticipating G80 to arrive before ATI’s equivalent, R600, also a DX10 capable circuit. We have earlier reported that G80 missed its planned tape-out, which indicated that there were some problems with the development of the new circuit. Now new information states that G80 is in fact delayed and it may very well be because of the missed tape-oute, but also because of the design of the circuit. The same information also states that G80 is nothing more than the G70/71 architecture with added DirectX10 support. Whether the delays are so big that ATI might be able to finish R600 earlier than the G80 is uncertain though. Anyhow, it is not until Windows Vista arrive that we can actually use the DX10 support so there is no reason for neither ATI nor NVIDIA to rush.
