NVIDIA has a small advantage on ATI on the graphics circuit market with 52 percent, leaving ATI at 48 percent. However now NVIDIA is planning on moving up to 60 percent already this year and this will not be achieved by only increase its sales for stationary computers, but also laptops and mobile phones. NVIDIA believes it can double its sales of graphics circuits for these two markets this year. It believes that 3D accelerating with mobile phones will really start moving during 2006 and will continue to become a prominent force the coming years. Overall it believes in a bigger graphics circuit market where interated circuits can be found inside almost 60 percent of all desktop computers. Windows Vista’s high graphics demands are expected to be a big piece of the puzzle here.
For the laptop market analysts say that ATI has about 70 percent of the graphics circuit market, but NVIDIA believes it will be able to double its sales here, mainly stealing customers from ATI.
How well NVIDIA will do remains to be seen, but the confidence is there, no doubt.
