NVIDIA has launched its latest addition to the GeForce 8 series and this time it’s a mobile circuit. GeForce 8700M GT is the name of the new graphics circuit and it will be the new flagship of the NVIDIA GeForce 8M family. Just like all circuits of the GeForce 8 series, GeForce 8700M GT has DirectX 10 and Windows Vista support, but also hardware decoding of HD DVD and Blu-ray via the PureVideo HD technology. HD playback is something that NVIDIA emphasizes in its press release and even if the 3D graphics performance is important it’s becoming more and more obvious how important the support for HD video formats is, especially with mobile solutions where gaming perhaps isn’t a top priority.
GeForce 8700M GT comes with 32 stream processors and a core frequency of 625MH, while the shader frequency is at 1250MHz. You can get up to 512MB graphics memory working at 800MHz with a 128-bit memory bus.
